ADCAS is a confidential and non-judgmental service to ALL students who want to talk about issues regarding alcohol or other substances. If your concern is for yourself, a roommate, or someone you care about, we can help. We offer referral options, sobriety and risk reduction support to anyone seeking positive change. ADCAS can help sort out any confusion you may have regarding the role substances may be playing in your life. We provide free voluntary services to all Western students and we coordinate enrollment in an evidence-based program that is part of the fulfillment of sanctions required by the University and/or the Bellingham Municipal Court for students who have violated alcohol and other drug policies and/or state laws.

ADCAS also provides individual and group services that meet the requirements of Western Washington University’s conduct sanctions and the mandated requirements by Bellingham Municipal Court for MIP citations. This confidential service for Western students provides assessment, individualized feedback, education, and consultation with a professional regarding alcohol and other drug use and utilizes an evidence-based program that reduces underage and high-risk drinking by assisting students in making more responsible personal choices. Please note, required ADCAS classes/sessions are only offered during fall, winter, and spring quarters. Alcohol and Other Drug Consultation and Assessment Services (ADCAS) is a confidential, professional service for Western students who want assistance or information regarding their own use or someone else’s use of alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs. All voluntary services are free. ADCAS services are designed with the realities of college life in mind, and can assist students to make their own accurately informed and thoughtful choices about alcohol, tobacco, or other drug use, and understand the related risks (personal, physical, social, academic, and legal). We want our students to enjoy their college experience, maximize academic success, and minimize unwanted and unintended consequences. Specific individual services available to students include:
- Consultation regarding personal substance use issues
- Assessment of personal substance use with personalized feedback
- Planning and support for cutting back or quitting
- Addressing concerns about substance use by friends, family members, partners, or roommates
- Referral to appropriate campus and community support, counseling, or treatment resources

Collective Strength Support Group
An on campus group that meets weekly to share the common goal of staying free from alcohol and other drugs. Give and receive peer support in regards to the strengths and challenges that can make sobriety at college not always easy.
